Help Us Make a Difference this Giving Tuesday!
As we approach Giving Tuesday, we at Plum Goode are excited to kick off our annual Plum Goode Giving initiative. This year, we are reminded of the importance of supporting underrepresented voices in our society. In light of the recent election, it’s more crucial than ever that we prioritize and uplift historically marginalized communities.
We believe that everyone deserves a seat at the table and an opportunity to be heard, and we are committed to contributing to this cause. But we can’t do it alone! We want to hear from you—our vibrant community—about organizations that are making a difference.
If you know of nonprofits or grassroots organizations that focus on uplifting marginalized voices or support communities that have been overlooked, we want to know about them! Your suggestions will help us ensure that our donations make a real impact where it’s needed most.
Please share your recommendations with us by emailing thegourmetgoober@gmail.com. We’re looking for organizations that align with our mission and have a demonstrated commitment to support and empower underrepresented communities.
Together, we can make this Giving Tuesday a powerful opportunity to give back and support those who are often silenced. Thank you for being a part of our journey to promote equity and inclusion.
We can’t wait to see your suggestions!
With gratitude,
The Plum Goode Team
We’re Making the Move to Bluesky!
Hey everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share an important update with you all. I’ve decided to migrate my Twitter account to Bluesky, and I want to explain why I made this choice.
Over the past year, I’ve become increasingly uncomfortable with the direction Twitter has taken. I can no longer support a social media platform that allows and promotes disturbing accounts that spread harmful content. It’s disheartening to see racist and misogynistic behavior being tolerated and amplified. This is not an environment where I feel safe or welcome, and I believe it does not benefit my followers either. And after the election, I realized I no longer wanted to help monetize Elon Musk through my activity.
By moving to Bluesky, I hope to create a more positive and inclusive online community. I want to prioritize a space that respects individuals and fosters genuine connections, free from the toxicity that has become too common on X.
If you’d like to continue following my updates and engage with me in this new space, you can find me on Bluesky at @jjoutlaw.bsky.social. I genuinely appreciate your support and understanding as I make this transition. Please note that I will keep my account on Twitter to make sure no one uses my handle for nefarious purposes. But I will NOT BE ACTIVE on the platform
Thank you for being part of Gooberland, and I look forward to connecting with you on Bluesky!

Whoo Hoo! The Gourmet Goober Podcast was Featured on Apple Podcast’s Black History Month Collection for the Second Consecutive Year!
The Gourmet Goober Podcast, an indie food and pop culture podcast based on the popular Chicago-area blog of the same name, has been selected for inclusion in Apple Podcast’s Black History feature for the second year in a row. The show, hosted by JJ Outlaw and her husband, T. “Big Daddy” Outlaw, explores the intersection of food and pop culture from an African American perspective.
Now in its fifth year, the show has received praise for its engaging host banter and insightful interviews, earning recognition from Soulphoodie.com as one of the top food and beverage podcasts hosted by a Black woman. The show’s name was inspired by a nickname given to JJ by her father years ago when he instilled in her a love of cooking.
“We are thrilled to be included in Apple Podcast’s Black History Month collection for the second year running, alongside bigger production shows that we admire,” said JJ Outlaw, who produces the podcast in addition to co-hosting duties. “It’s an honor to be recognized for our work in celebrating Black food culture and exploring how food connects us all.”
In addition to its recognition from Soulphoodie.com, the Gourmet Goober Podcast has been identified as one of the top 100 independent foodie podcasts by Goodpods.com. The show continues to attract a loyal following of food enthusiasts and pop culture aficionados alike.
